There are some of you who went wheeling with us in Ar. that was your first time. And it has been brought to my attention that there should be certain things done to the trucks after they are back to the city life. Now I think this would be a good spot to post those things. I personally like to clean my radiator and clean or replace my air filter. Anyone else have other suggestions I am all eyes.

The ONLY set of H2 brakes I have ever seen worn out were bad because mud was left in the brakes and wheels. A basic cleaning goes a long way. It would not hurt to check diff. fluids for milky look (water contamination) and transfer case too. All could be checked easily by pulling the fill plug and inserting a finger. Some may be filled a hair over the plug so don't let that scare. Wheel on!

Okay - you lost me after a baiscc cleaning goes a long way...check diff fluids? where are they and how do I check them? willing to learn, but need instruction - is this a get-out-your-manual situation and figure it out? I thin I need to take an automotive 101 class...

Most do it yourselfers have the basic tools to do these checks. The H3 is a bit more work where you need to remove the front skid plate to gain access to the front diff. I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression. It does not take a whole lot of "technical" knowledge but some mild repair experience helps out. H3CHIC, I doubt you have any brake issues. What I meant by what I said is to just shoot some water in the spokes of your wheels after going through mud for a few seconds and look inside.
If you spend alot of time in deep water (over the hub) you will need to monitor the health of your wheel bearings also. It is sealed but if water gets in it will cost you in the long run. Thats my opinion

Just make sure before you go washing your brakes out that they have time to cool down water on hot rotors can warp them. I had mud in my brakes when we got home from Hot Springs that i did not see. i took each wheel off and cleaned my brakes and boy howdy there was mud in places i figured would of been cleaned out by the hose. Another trick if you have the yard for it is to put a water sprinkler under the truck and let it run a little while and it will soften the mud up for you if it is caked on. you can always have the dealership replace the fluids on one of there inspection ie oil change tire rotation. Just suggestions.
