Would you recommend using this for off road use? You know because of the lag that turbo kits are known to have I think it wouldn't be a good idea to put it on a truck that you take off road alot, especially rock crawling. If the truck was in a bind and you press the gas to get out and you overcompensate because of the lag. When finally the power gets there, SNAP goes the axle or maybe some teeth on the gears. Anyway, just thought I would ask.

depends on how you configure the turbo. If you're running an AT, you'll probably have boost as the stall convertor hits. If stick shift, you could still configure it boost at lower/mid RPMs.

How sensitive is the turbo to water? Like if you are going through high water or even mud.

I think there is a kit where the intake is in the wheel well which makes no sense to me for an off road vehicle. Now, if you could adapt some sort of snorkle...

ORIGINAL: NewtonsLaw How sensitive is the turbo to water? Like if you are going through high water or even mud. It can be submerged, but the intake must be above the water. My truck's turbo has been fully submersed on many occasions and never had an issue. With regards to lag. You need to hunt down a turbo that will have the maximum output you want with the quickest spool. This is usually the most difficult task, 90% of the time you give up top end power for quicker response. The following two options offer quick response and good top end, but are more expensive. A ball bearing turbo spools the quickest over other bearing styles. Twin scroll turbo's offer quicker spool also. You can also thermally coat all of the exhaust pre-turbo to keep the exhaust hot and moving quickly for earlier onset of boost. The converter you have in the truck will also play a major role for the spooling characteristics. What kind of truck do you have? Nick
