With the latest news and controversy about hummer gas consumption, it would be nice to gage the H2's true MPG around town! Feel free ot leave any comments. Wheeler

I have a 2008 H2 SUV (with the 6.2 engine and six-speed transmission) and usually get about 13.2 mpg average (in town and highway combined), but recently set the cruise control for about 58 mph for about 30 miles of mildly hilly highway driving with seven passengers on board and averaged 16.2 mpg for that leg of the trip.

I have 2008 H2 SUT (stock) & currently averaging 11.7 mpg, would like too bring the avg. up. I read some of the past posts & looks like the upgraded intake system is the first step. Any recommendations out there? Thx Screamineagle

Hi, Dont think MPG think $PM, My Hummer is in NY State (gas price $4.80) My LWB Rolls Royce Park Ward Limo (6.7L Turbo) is in Europe (gas price $10 per gallon). For years gas has been cheaper than mineral water, we used our resource (texas and the UK) when it was cheap (big mistake) now we have to pay the arabs and the ruskies or go without! Re-adjust or die. Good luck

I know what you mean. Milage on my Rolls really sucked. Traded it for a Bently. Better gas milage and much better looks, but ground clearnce was poor, and the trunk was too small to carry all my shooting gear to the range. My H2 was a perfect fit. Don't plan to die anytime soon. The only re-adjustment we needed to do is to take Linda's H3 when we go out together. Book em

HI guys. Is somebody ever removed Drive shaft from rear(or maybe it called different way)? I am not really mechanic just want to find if converting 4wd to 2wd gonna save on gas. And not damage tranny? Also what is max i can go on tire pressure, a lot of people says it helps with gas also? thanks steve

Hey Steve, Removing your drive shaft won't help gas milage. You would save the weight of the shaft, but all the same parts would be turning. Some 4X4's have locking and unlocking front hubs which allow you to run in 2 wheel drive and not have to turn the front drive components. That makes the truck easier to roll and saves gas. Too expensive to do a conversion on the hummer. Probably only get about 2 miles/gal Read the label on the tires, mine are aftermarket and I went from 40psi to 60psi with about a 1/2 mpg gain Good luck
