Yes it does and the H3 has 75-90 gear and transmission oil.  Two different machines.

Amsoil has the ATF which is rated for extreme pressures such as climbing, towing etc.  Its good stuff.  Depending on the year of your truck depends on the recommendations.  For yours Drmiles...the o3 and your 05 should use the ATF.  I will double check.

One thing GM did is spec the H3s with Dextron 6 (AF6) fluid.  Amsoil does not have the replacement for that product yet but is working on it.  Transfer case oil, diff fluids and most of the older H2 vehicles I can get fluids for that are far better that what you can get in the store.  Mobile One would be my second choice.

I've changed mine to mobil one synthetic. Dose not help with breakage though. Just normal wear I guess. How often should the transmission / transfer case and diffs be changed?

Depends on the use of the vehicle and the fluid you use. Mobile one is good stuff, if your doing extreme offroading such as yourself you will have a much more strict change Vs a grocery getter.  Mainly make sure you never get water penetration in your hubs and diffs or any other equipment.

I would say 50,000 but thats subjective.  You have to make your own decisions on that because the vehicle is used offroad.  Its your call.  Fluids are cheap.  I can probaly get you Amsoil cheaper than mobile one and its a little better protection.

I change my fluids in my stuff quite often, its not hard and its cheap insurance.

Ill research the tranny recommendations and how often you should change it.  I know for a fact that you dont want to go to long on the tranny fluid, it gets worked really hard when towing or climbing.

I have never used syn. trans fluids does it help. I change the trans fluid every 8k because of the heavy off road use. You can see it already breaking down by this time.

One major factor is heat....The Amsoil ATF fluid has a super high heat tolerance.  There is a chart that shows this comparison.  If your offroading you should change your transimission fluid much more often than the grocery getter.

For 2006/2007 there is a GM spec AF-6 fluid, Amsoil does not officially have a replacement for that but I am sure that the synthetic ATF fluid has better properties than the GM spec stuff.

I would love to see how the Amsoil ATF fluids holds up in your truck Auggie......  Real world testing......You know I would support that.... Dealer Cost on the fluid, Im curious.   You should be able to double the fluid life with these products.

Auggie, one of the most important things about changing the fluids in the tranny is to ge over 90% of the new fluid into the transmission.  Getting the old fluid out is difficult unless you flush with the new fluid with the pump running to get the converter / cooler fluid exchanged.  Will service do this?  Can you get this done if we want it done, How much $$$$?

Hummer owners have two choices.  One is the normal Synthetic Universal fluids which typically last twice the life of other fluids.  Or Torque Drive Fluid which is used in heavy duty applications and has a higher heat tolerance.  Torque Drive is more expensive but its an option.

Hummertech prices for ATF  is $7.95 a Qt, $74.68 for 2.5 Gal.   The Torque Drive is $33.23 a Gal, or $81 for 2.5 Gal.  PLUS SHIPPING COSTS.  This is my cost with 50% profit cut which is not much.

The ATF is probably the way to go, its available in Qts.  All of it is available in 2.5 gallons, 55 gallons or even 16 gallon Kegs.

Auggie, how many quarts or gallons of fluid do you think it would take to flush and fill the systems on the H3 and H2.  I have the fill requirements on Amsoil but it does not include any loss of fluids during flushing.

Amsoil has the Dextron 6 for the latest GM spec on transmissions almost ready.  The newly speced fluid has not been realeased to the public but soon it will be available.  My H3 will be getting a full tranny and transfer case flush with the new fluids.

GM has it out now...

Also I used this in Both Differentials (Drained and refilled at 15,000 miles) I recommend that everyone check theirs, as I found mine considerably low from the factory.

How was the fluides in the diffs when you changed them? I changed mine at 3k miles to moble 1 and it now has 7100 miles I broke a axle this weekend and when we removed the pumpkin the fluids were way too dirty for my confront.

Both lubes were dark but not burnt looking..very little metal sludge on the drain magnets either, which was a good sign...and low like I said, which concerend me, since that's the way they came from the factory...Some diffs in a certain VIN range came with Lapping compound still in the gears..maybe yours had that too.

Frankly I don't trust Mobil 1..I've had bad luck and I know several others that now shy away from Mordor 1 products....I have never had a lick of trouble with Castrol products in my 35+ years of driving and car ownership...
