The clunk is the intermiten steering shaft and it needs to be adjusted. Its more of a shield than anything and wont take long to adjust.

The part that makes the noise in a shield  to keep noise down for some reason.

They make a repair kit for it.  The kit consist of grease and instructions.  The draw back is that the grease gets hot and it comes out and the "clunk" comes back.  By your profile you have a 2006 H3 it should be covered under warranty.  I think they even have a new replacement shaft that does away with the capsule system.

when you are going down the road at 55.With right hand at 12:00 on the steering wheel, moveit left to right. There is a play there with a clicking noise you feel in your hand.     Any info on what it might be. I was thinking maybe one of the joints in the shaft had play or looseness.
