Everyone,

Just bought a used H2....LOVE IT!.....and it's got a ton of "steering slop", especially at highway speeds.  I've owned a lot of GM vehicles previously, and am slightly used to play in the steering, but NOTHING like this?

Anyone experience this same problem, know what causes it, or have a fix?

Thanks in advance,

DUCK

Those appear to be all good.  Could something be amiss in the steering gear itself?

Have you checked the front hubs also. Its possible there may be a steering but its very unlikley. The idler arm and pittman ars are usally the problem though.

Unlikely it's the steering box/gear, but don't rule it out. I would say 98% of the time it's the steering linkage. ball joints and pitman arm. Even though they look sound with a visible inspection, they are warn in the ball socket causing sloppy handling.

Here's the kicker though.....it already has the Cognito Steering Kit and Fabtek Heavy Duty Tie-Rods.

I would have the coginto kit checked though  the kits are lasting me about 12k before they go bad.

I had the fabtek tie-rods as well, but my pitman arms were trashed. The cognito kit limits strains, but doesn't eliminate them... They only last so long with 3 tons swaying around.
