University of Virginia Standout Chris Long to be Honored April 25 in Times Square
2008-04-23, NEW YORK - A top NFL Draft prospect Chris Long, who has carved out a prep and collegiate football career "Like Nothing Else," has been named "HUMMER's Top Rookie". Long, son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, will be honored by HUMMER April 25 in New York's Times Square and be presented with the keys to a brand new HUMMER H2 vehicle.

This is the third consecutive year that HUMMER - the "official vehicle" of the NFL Draft - has selected a rookie to receive the honor. "Chris Long is a rookie who truly exemplifies the spirit of HUMMER," said Martin Walsh, general manager for HUMMER. "Not only does he showcase talent and courage on the gridiron, but he equally exhibits strong character off of the field, a perfect match for the HUMMER brand."

Long has racked up several football honors as a top Virginia prep and then on the collegiate level at the University of Virginia. He has earned multiple honors including having been named consensus First Team All-American, Atlantic Coast Defensive Player of the Year, and the 2007 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year recipient with the most votes ever in the history of the award. His #91 jersey was even retired at the University of Virginia while he was still active.
Walsh along with Brady Quinn, Quarterback of the Cleveland Browns will present Long with keys to his 2008 HUMMER H2 at a red carpet ceremony April 25 at ESPN Zone in Times Square.

Like Long who is a class act both on and off the field, the HUMMER H2 is a fitting choice as its DNA is powerful off-road while also surprisingly smooth and refined navigating streets and highway. The iconic H2 enters 2008 with a raft of changes, delivering a more refined interior that combines luxury with HUMMER's legendary ruggedness; enhanced safety features and a more powerful engine that is coupled with a new, six-speed automatic transmission. And the new powertrain combination improves efficiency when compared with previous models.

"The 2008 HUMMER H2 represents a major step in the evolution of this iconic vehicle," said Walsh. "From performance to comfort, to safety and overall refinement, the new H2 lineup delivers more of what customers expect from HUMMER; they will be especially impressed with the new, more refined interior."
Also appearing on the red carpet are the HUMMER H3T as well as the E85 HUMMER H2.
The 2009 HUMMER H3T. It is based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a four-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed.
The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It also is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.

The HUMMER E85 H2 shares the same iconic features as the HUMMER H2, but with an E85 capable engine. E85 ethanol, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, is a mostly renewable fuel that can be made from biodegradable wastes and several plants, such as switchgrass, willow, and corn.
